Murray Family Medical Update

It has been quite a roller coaster ride we have been on the last 5 weeks. I can tell you what's going on today but it will probably change tomorrow.

Yesterday we went to see Jess, he is still at the U. Hospital. Twice they have set a date to move him to South Davis Hospital and both times they weren't able to because something comes up. He keeps getting fluid in him stomach, they drained 6 liters of fluid out of his stomach on Monday. They are hoping to move him this Tuesday but today there was more fluid again so we'll see. He has been in and out of ICU a couple of times. He is in intermediate care right now.
Yesterday when we got there we got a big smile from him and he would respond to our yes or no questions. He still can't walk because of the Tracheotomy. Then he tried to say something and we just couldn't read his lips. That seemed to discourage him and then he didn't respond any more. He didn't respond to Dan today when he was there. He seems to be hanging in there, so we hope for the best. He is still on breath assist but he is now mostly breathing on his own. I feel bad for how long he has been laying in a hospital bed, we were there yesterday when they rolled him over, it looked awful.

About 2 weeks after Jess went in the hospital Mary's husband Larry went in for bypass surgery. He was doing really well and then the day before he was to go home he had a massive stroke. They were pretty optimistic for a few days but it's not good. The stroke paralyzed his right side and both his feet and has now taken his eye sight. Probably tomorrow the family will have to make some tough decisions.

Also during this time Vicki's daughter broke her wrist, her son David suffered 3 bulging or herniated discs, and her husband has kidney stones. Also, I don't know if you know or remember that Vicki's husband is Kelly Christensen. His sister Cindy lives by us and is married to Steve Bednar and we just love them, I golf with Cindy. Her husband is also at the U.because of a staph infection that went to his heart. He had to have a valve replaced. Word is it went well and he is doing well and hopefully home in a few days.

Like I said anything could happen tomorrow...

P.S. I do know that there is a LARGE space between my last 2 posts, if anyone can tell me how to get rid of it I would love to know. I tried and tried but the more I tried the slower my computer got and I gave up.

We send you all our love!

Well none of that sounds like anything a family wants to hear. Although it does sound like Jess is doing OK, it does have to be discouraging to not be able to communicate. Especially for someone like Jess who is such a talker. We will sure keep our fingers crossed for him.

Please give my best to Mary. I can't imagine having to deal with something like that. It is really hard to realize that we are getting to the age where these things become reality.

Sorry about all the health problems, hope things get better!
The space I think is just at the bottom of your last post. So if you go to "New Post" and a the bottom it says something like "Go to list of posts" and then you can see your vacation post. Push on "Edit" and then you can edit that post. There is probably a big space at the bottom of your post you can just backspace until it's gone. I hope that makes sense!

I'm so sorry to hear about everything that your family is going through right now. No one would want to have to deal with any of them individually, but it seems especially unfair to have so many things going on in one family all at once.
